Youth, on Saturday converged on Gombe to launch the Rescue Nigerian Mission project as well as galvanizing support for Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
The youths, who were in Kano last week, insisted that Governor Bello contest the presidency, assuring him of 30 million “conservative” votes across Nigeria.
The group, RENMISS, is a youth support organization advocating for good and young governance in Nigeria.
The group’s national coordinator, Abdullahi Damat, who led other young leaders across the northeast, said the young people decided to avoid monetary policy and use their numerical strength to put their preferred candidate in power. .
While praising the Governor for his giant strides in infrastructure development, security, education, inclusion of women and youth, among others, Damat said Bello has shown he has the ability to bring Nigeria to the desired destination and that it should be supported.
“We will go house to house, door to door, asking for support. Politicians can do theirs. But we are ready. Let the people bring their money, we’ll cash in, but we’ll put Governor Bello in there with our collective will. The youth population in Nigeria is massive, but we assure the Governor that with our efforts, we will muster 30 million Conservative votes. It will surely be more than that,” he said.
Governor Yahaya Bello’s Chief of Staff, Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku, who was invited as a special guest at the event, being a youth himself, in his remarks called on young Nigerians to support the Governor for the presidency of 2023.
Asuku said young people have to start looking within and supporting one of them who has shown capacity in governance, if Nigeria is to get it right this time.
He said he was happy that people outside the government saw the governor’s good works and ability and, on their own, carried the right message across the country.
While congratulating the youths for their initiative, he said, “Governor Yahaya Bello is the only one who will provide determined leadership and good governance if elected President in the 2023 general election.”
“Anyone like Governor Yahaya Bello who has given women and youth the platform to drive their own affairs will be successful if elected to a higher position.”
