Conquer the Coast, an annual cycling tradition, is set to return for its 20th year in Coastal Bend on Saturday September 17.

South Texas’ premier cycling event will allow riders to choose from three different scenic routes in the Corpus Christi area with views of Ocean Drive, Port Aransas and upper Padre Island.

Proceeds generated by Conquer the Coast will benefit the Corpus Christi Chamber Foundation, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Athletic Fund, and various Coastal Bend cycling organizations, including the Corpus Christi Cycling Club and the Corpus Christi Triathlon Club and its “Bikes” program. for Kids”. .

The Family Ride will close registrations on the day of the event, so be sure to visit to register and find additional information. Package pickup will be at Brewster Street in downtown Corpus Christi from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 16.

What are the routes for cyclists?

Route 1: The 10 mile cruise will start and end at Whataburger Field. It’s a quiet walk down Ocean Drive with views of Corpus Christi Bay. This route is perfect for less experienced cyclists, young cyclists and families. The ride will begin at 7:30 a.m. The registration cost is $45.

Itinerary 2: The 25 mile cruise will start and end at Whataburger Field. The route will take cyclists on Ocean Drive, past Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and near the gates of the Naval Air Station. This course is intended for intermediate level cyclists using comfort bikes, hybrids or mountain bikes. The ride will begin at 7:30 a.m. The registration cost is $85.

Itinerary 3: The 66-mile cruise will begin and end at Whataburger Field. This demanding route is reserved for experienced cyclists. It will take runners over the 138-foot-tall Harbor Bridge overlooking Corpus Christi Harbor to Portland, Ingleside, Port Aransas and onto the Port Aransas Ferry. After spotting a dolphin or two on the boat ride, riders will cycle the full length of Mustang Island, over the JFK Causeway, down Ocean Drive, and past the Corpus Christi Marina. The ride will begin at 7:15 a.m. The registration cost is $105.

The best place to see cyclists and park would be along Shoreline or Ocean in downtown Corpus Christi.
