As we continue our 2022 football season from Arizona at No. 9 UCLA Saturday at 8:30 p.m. (MST) on FOX, I’m thrilled to see our strong alumni and fan base at the Rose Bowl. Southern California is home to many members of the Wildcat family, and I’m always proud to see the Wildcats wear the colors in the stands and fill them with our U of A chants.

Next week marks the start of a two-game homestand to end our season, and we’ve received kick-off times and TV designations for both games. Our Military & Veteran Appreciation Game against Washington State was set for 12:00 p.m. MST on Saturday, November 19 on Pac-12 Networks. Honoring the men and women who proudly serve our country is one of our Athletic Department’s major celebrations throughout the year, and we hope to see you for an awesome day at Arizona Stadium next Saturday. Buy your single tickets for our game against the Cougars.

The Territorial Cup is also scheduled to kick off during the day on Friday, November 25, the day after Thanksgiving. The annual game with the North School is the nation’s oldest rivalry trophy game, and the 2022 edition is scheduled for 1 p.m. (MST) on Fox Sports 1. It’s a marquee sporting event. for our entire state, and we’re still expecting big crowds for the 97th Territorial Cup. If you do not have your tickets for the match yet, please click here. The Arizona State game is also a RED OUT for fans, so bring your best red Wildcat gear to the game.

The 2022 season was marked by a great atmosphere inside Arizona Stadium as the Wildcat family showed up on game days to cheer on our football student-athletes, coaches and staff. Arizona Athletics prides itself on providing a first-class environment for our student-athletes to compete and for our fans to experience all home events. Thank you for making an impact this football season, and I can’t wait to see the red and blue fill Arizona Stadium for the rest of the season.

FOOTBALL SEASON IN ARIZONA

While we’re disappointed we didn’t hear Arizona’s name called on Monday’s NCAA Football Tournament draft show, I want to acknowledge and highlight the outstanding season that Coach Moros and the Wildcats had in 2022. The program was chosen to finish last in the Pac-12 Conference and finished the season in the top half of the league while displaying our Bear Down spirit of determination along the way. The team beat eighth-ranked USC for the first time in nearly a decade, which was also the program’s highest-ranked win in 15 years. Goaltender Hope Hisey was a third-team All-Pac-12 selection for her quality play while Sami Baytosh earned a spot on the Pac-12 All-Freshmen team.

Congratulations to our soccer student-athletes, coaches and staff for a great season. The future for Arizona Soccer is bright and we look forward to seeing them back on the pitch. Shoot down and go cats!

CELEBRATE NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH

Honoring Native American heritage in our community is part of the fabric of the Wildcat Way at Arizona Athletics. Our athletics department will be celebrating Native American Heritage Month in a variety of ways, including special Native American student-athlete social media content, hosting a Native American heritage night at the women’s basketball game against LMU as well as special warm-up shirts for all of our competing teams. . Our custom shirts featured above pay homage to the Tohono O’odham Nation and the Pascua Yaqui Tribe.

We respectfully acknowledge that the University of Arizona is on the lands and territories of Indigenous peoples. Today, Arizona is home to 22 federally recognized tribes, with Tucson home to the O’odham and Yaqui. Committed to diversity and inclusion, the University strives to build lasting relationships with sovereign Indigenous nations and Indigenous communities through educational offerings, partnerships, and community services.

SPOTLIGHT ON STUDENT-ATHLETES

Hope Hisey, Arizona Soccer’s star goaltender, was featured in the second-season premiere of the Bear Down podcast. The official Arizona Athletics podcast is hosted by former Arizona Softball All-American and Wildcat for Life, Kenzie Fowler Quinn. The two discussed Arizona’s stellar season on the court as well as a special announcement regarding Hope’s plans for the future.

The Bear Down podcast is one of the many ways we highlight the exceptional young women and men in our sports programs and tell their stories as points of pride for our department, our university, and our community.
