Urban Development Authority and OVG360 Announce Management Partnership for Amphitheater Project

The Macon-Bibb County Urban Development Authority (UDA) voted unanimously to approve OVG360 to manage the new Macon Amphitheater project. OVG360 is the current management company for Macon Coliseum and Macon City Auditorium. OVG360 is the third-party, site management, site services and hosting division of Oak View Group (OVG), which is the leading global venue development, advisory and investment company for the sports and live entertainment industries.

“UDA looks forward to working with OVG360 to bring this project to life in a way that reflects the best of what Macon has to offer” Alex Morrison, executive director of the Macon-Bibb County Urban Development Authority, said. “We know having them on the team will bring the expertise we need to activate the space and spark a larger redevelopment of the West Macon area. It will be another win-win-win situation for our community.

“The OVG360 team continued to exceed our expectations with our other facilities, booking amazing numbers, coordinating great community events and using their expertise to let us know how to improve facilities for everyone,” said declared Mayor Lester Miller. “Their knowledge of our community and its needs, as well as their experience and success, make them the ideal partner to open and manage our new amphitheater.

The new amphitheater recently innovated under construction in February 2022. The 10,000 capacity facility will include covered and stationary seating, lawn seating, green spaces, performers’ dressing rooms, green room, ticket booths, vendor areas and events, transition bridges, specific areas for crews, commercial areas and other amenities.

David Aiello, General Manager OVG360 for Macon Centreplex, said, “Since we began operating the City Auditorium and Macon Coliseum in 2016, we have used live entertainment to have a lasting and positive economic impact here in Central Georgia, and specifically in Macon. “Now we are thrilled to add this state-of-the-art venue to our portfolio and look to continue to serve our community and region by booking and hosting high-quality live events.”

“OVG360 continues to create tourism opportunities for Macon-Bibb County through the operation of the Macon Coliseum and Macon Auditorium” Gary Wheat, President and CEO of Visit Macon, said. “The OVG360 team has driven an increase in shows and events, turning the venues into major drivers of tourism and visitors to Macon over the past few years. I expect this to continue with their management of the new amphitheater project.

OVG360 will begin meeting with key partners and construction personnel and establishing a management deployment for the new amphitheater in accordance with the construction and opening schedule.
