TUCSON, Arizona – The unofficial start of the 2021-22 basketball season in Arizona kicks off Saturday afternoon with the annual First Watch Red-Blue game. The intra-team scrum in front of the fans at the McKale Center is the program’s season-opening celebration with adapted athletics, a slam dunk competition and a prerequisite shooting competition.
The event is the first game action for the Wildcats under the new head coach Tommy lloyd as the handful of Arizona ghosts and talented newcomers speak to fans for the first time at the show’s historic venue.
THE FIRST RED-BLUE GAME WATCH

Doors open: 1:30 p.m. MST, or 90 minutes before
Slam Dunk Competitors: Christian Koloko, Azoulas Tubelis, Dalen terry and Benoît Mathurin
Freebies: Team posters will be available for pickup, free of charge, when fans leave the facility after the event
To remind our loyal supporters of the health and safety instructions for all home basketball games. In conjunction with the University of Arizona campus guidelines for masks and face coverings, we will have the following requirements for fans:
- Fans are required to wear a mask to enter and at all times at the McKale Center
- Fans are required to wear a mask in the lobby level restrooms
- Fans are required to wear a mask when walking through the facilities and halls
- Fans are only allowed to remove their masks when eating or drinking in their seats
This will also be our first home basketball event for our widely deployed mobile ticketing process. Please check your inbox where your tickets were delivered and load your tickets for Saturday into your ArizonaWildcats app, Google Pay, or Apple Wallet before arriving at McKale.
