TEMPE, AZ – The Tempe Veterans Day Parade has been canceled due to lower than expected turnout from bands and marching bands to take part in the parade, organizers said.

The 2020 parade has also been canceled due to the ongoing pandemic, however, organizers plan to return stronger in 2022, according to a statement posted on the parade’s Facebook page.

“Unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control, the parade chairman decided to cancel this year’s parade (sic). It was an incredibly difficult decision as we are all determined to honor our veterans,” said the organizers in an October 28 post on Facebook.

The city of Tempe confirmed the news on Wednesday in a press release.

Unfortunately, the Tempe Veterans Day parade on November 11 was canceled. Event organizers felt they had not received enough registrations and marchers to organize the parade of this year, “the city said in its own statement.
