Free water ski show at Ruttger’s Bay Lake Resort in Deerwood

Join the team at the Brainerd Ski Loons water ski show from 7-8:15 p.m. Thursday, August 18 at Ruttger’s Bay Lake Resort in Deerwood as the team hits the water to show off their skills.

The Brainerd Ski Loons Water Ski Show Team is a local non-profit community organization providing opportunities for personal development, teamwork and community involvement through water sports.

Crosby Library will hold a book sale to raise funds

The Jessie F. Hallett Friends Foundation will hold its annual book sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, August 18 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Hallett Library in Crosby.

No Break From Nature Summer Camp at Northland Arboretum

The Northland Arboretum’s “No Break from Nature” Summer Series Camp runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays through August 18. The topics are different every week. Participants will learn about Minnesota’s habitats, insects, wildlife and plants.

Campers must enter grades two through six to register. The cost is $25 per day for Arb members or $30 per day for non-members. To register a child for the camp series, visit



Stage North Theater Co. will hold auditions for “The Crucible”

The Stage North Theater Co. will hold auditions for “The Crucible,” a 1953 play by American playwright Arthur Miller. a dramatized and partially fictionalized history of the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1692-1693.

Auditions will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 19 and 3 p.m. on Saturday with performances on October 21 and 22 and October 28 and 29 at the Franklin Arts Center on Kingwood Street in Brainerd.

Central Lakes College invites the public to join music ensembles

The community is invited to join one of the 11 musical ensembles at Central Lakes College. Ensembles meet at different times of the day and evening and are open to musicians of all levels, from beginner to expert.

There will be an audition and a meeting with the director of instrumental music Jonathan Laflamme from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, August 22. The audition will be for chair placement and will include two – octave scale and piece of music of your choice.
