Sacramento Halloween: Haunted Houses, Festivals, Pub Crawls

Spot the irregularly carved pumpkins, crisp warm-toned fall leaves, and fall-inspired cinnamon drinks, because it’s finally fall.

That means Halloween — the only day it’s socially acceptable to wear a bloody mouth — is right around the corner.

As we get closer to the spooky festivities, the list of events is sure to grow. For now, here are some haunted houses inspired by Halloween and fall, family festivals and pub crawls in the Sacramento area:

Sacramento Scream Park in Roseville includes three separate mazes.

Come across vampires, monsters, dark cupids and evil babies throughout tours of “Louisiana Catacombs”, “Blind Asylum” and “Skull Ripper Haunted Mansion”.

Heartstoppers haunted house is a haunted immersive experience with a “terrifying storyline,” according to its website. If haunted houses aren’t your thing, spend the night playing carnival games.

Halloween events for the whole family

28th Annual Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival

Giant pumpkins carved into canoes, carnival rides and food trucks are planned for the 28th edition Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival.

The two-day free festival on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2 will have activities stacked up from around 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Parking is $10. The bike valet is free.

Gather the family for an afternoon of stuff or treats and gifts at Spooktacular Fall Festival at Esther’s Park in Oak Park.

From 2-8 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, event-goers will be surrounded by live art and performances, food, and drink.

Adult Halloween Events


Your best Halloween outfit could win you $1,000 if you wear it to 5th Edition Halloween pub crawl. The event will kick off at the Zebra Club in the city center at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 and run until midnight.

The event is for ages 21 and up.

The 14th edition The Vampire Ball by Shannon McCabe is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 29 at Harlow’s in the city center. Early bird and bottle service tickets are sold out.

The event is for ages 21 and up.

Trick or Drink Halloween Pub Crawl is a three-day event that kicks off at 4 p.m. Friday, October 28 at the Flatstick Pub in downtown Sacramento. Crawls will also take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 and at 4 p.m. on Monday, October 31.

Spectators will have access to the “best bars Sacramento has to offer” as well as drink specials. Halloween costumes are encouraged.

This event is for ages 21 and up.
