In Nepal, candidates register for federal and provincial elections : Newsdrum


Kathmandu, Oct 9 (PTI) Candidates from various political parties as well as independent candidates have filed their nomination papers in the first-past-the-post (FPTP) category as the election commission set the date for submission of concluded nominations on Sunday.

Various candidates have submitted their candidacies for the 165 seats in the House of Representatives and 330 in the provincial assemblies, according to the Electoral Commission sources.

Key leaders of various political parties including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and main opposition leader KP Sharma Oli have registered their nominations for the upcoming polls.

Prime Minister Deuba, also president of the ruling Nepalese Congress, filed his candidacy from Dadeldhura district. Deuba applied through his wife Arzoo Deuba. CPN-UML President and former Prime Minister Oli registered his candidacy from Jhapa-5.

Similarly, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ filed his candidacy from Gorkha-3, while CPN (United Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal registered his candidacy from Rautahat-1.

Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav and Janamat Party Chairman Dr. CK Raut have submitted candidacies to stand in the Saptari – 2 elections.
