“Welcome to the club

The International Women’s Club will begin its 2022-23 year on September 9 at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, 2310 Haymaker Road, Monroeville.

The meeting starts at 9am as a ‘welcome’ and a chance for members to come together after the restrictions caused by covid-19. All members are asked to bring a dish to serve.

The programs for the coming year are scheduled:

• October 7, singer Brian Mehan

• November 4, Dr Barbara Burstin, author of “Sophie: the incomparable mayor Masloff”

• December 2, Feast of the Holidays

• March 3, Pipa, performance of a traditional Chinese musical instrument by Nancy Xiao and students

• April 14, Container Gardening Presentation by a Penn State Master Gardener

• May 19, lunch

Due to covid, babysitting service is suspended until further notice.

Check out the fourth annual Library Fun Fest from noon to 4 p.m. on August 27 at the Monroeville Public Library Campus, 4000 Gateway Campus Blvd.

Featuring a petting zoo, drum circles, balloon artists, a magician, inflatable rides, food, games, a cupcake decorating contest and music, as well as community booths and exhibitors. It’s a rain or shine event.

Making special 1-3 appearances will be University of Pittsburgh football players Calijah Kancey, third-team Associated Press All-American, and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl starting quarterback Nick Patti.

Outdoor Worship Service

Greater Works, located in Monroeville University Park, is partnering with Church Without Walls to welcome all members of the community to an outdoor service from noon to 2 p.m. on August 27.

The service will be held in the lower parking lot of Greater Works, where attendees of all ages can enjoy musical worship, powerful testimonies and an uplifting message from Pastor Gary Mitrik. Prayer tents will be available for those in need.

All guests are welcome to stay and enjoy a complimentary lunch afterwards. No reservation is required.

Penn Hills High School 50th Reunion

The Penn Hills High School Class of 1973 will celebrate 50 years of reunion on October 6, 2023 at Futules Harmar House in Harmarville. Classmates should email Joanna Papa Ogden ([email protected]) or Connie Hall Hannan ([email protected]) with their current email and contact information.
