House of Tricks in downtown Tempe to close after 3 decades


TEMPE, AZ – The owners of House of Tricks, a quaint restaurant in Tempe that has hosted birthdays, business meetings, and date nights for over 30 years, are planning to retire and as such have announced Thursday that they would close their restaurant next summer.

Yes, House of Tricks is closing. But not before June 2022. No specific date has been announced.

“Knowing what House of Tricks means to us, and to so many people in our community, has made that decision especially difficult. It is always difficult to leave a business that you love and that is so much of our life and yours. for over a year. three decades, “owners Bob and Robin Trick said in a statement.

The restaurant property was sold to new owners on Wednesday, December 15, and the Tricks will lease the property to them for the next six months, according to a press release.

The new owners have not been identified and the future of the property is still being finalized, but “the future possibilities for the restaurant itself are wide open,” the statement said. “At the moment, they are considering all the options.”

Bob and Robin opened House of Tricks over 30 years ago in a pair of 1920s bungalows in Tempe, near 7th Street and Forest Avenue, in the heart of downtown Tempe and the campus of the Arizona State University.

“We are eternally grateful to everyone who has supported us over the years and will be planning many festivities and special events over the next six months,” said the owners.
