DENVER (CBS4) – Colorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez found out on Sunday that he had been selected for his first all-star team. He will represent the host team at the 2021 All-Star Game at Coors Field in Denver.

The Rocky Mountain ace showed the St. Louis Cardinals why he deserves the All-Star selection. He struck out 11 batters, a season-high, in his six innings of work – and allowed just two runs.
After his debut, he received the best news of his career from Rockies manager Bud Black.
âI couldn’t wait to tell himâ¦ it was a great time,â Black said.
Marquez becomes the eighth Rockies pitcher to be named All-Star.

And it’s a moment the young Venuzuela pitcher will never forget.
âVery grateful. Happy. All kinds of excitementâ¦ All these Venuzuela fans. I’m doing it for these guys,â Marquez said.
Marquez, 26, threw a one-full shutout against the Pirates earlier in the week.

He has a 3.59 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 105: 41 K: BB in 105.1 innings and is lining up for a road start against the Padres next week.
The Midsummer Classic will be played at Coors Field on July 13.
The game was originally scheduled to be played in Atlanta, but Major League Baseball announced it was moving the game from Georgia after State. changed his voting laws.
The July game marks the second All-Star Game hosted by the Rockies, following the 1998 event.
