DENVER (CBS4) – Colorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez found out on Sunday that he had been selected for his first all-star team. He will represent the host team at the 2021 All-Star Game at Coors Field in Denver.

The Rocky Mountain ace showed the St. Louis Cardinals why he deserves the All-Star selection. He struck out 11 batters, a season-high, in his six innings of work – and allowed just two runs.

After his debut, he received the best news of his career from Rockies manager Bud Black.

“I couldn’t wait to tell him… it was a great time,” Black said.

Marquez becomes the eighth Rockies pitcher to be named All-Star.
