From Sachin to Afridi: Cricket fraternity reacts to Pakistan win over India | locust

After losing the tournament opener to arch-rivals India, Babar Azam-led Pakistan bolstered their title bid by defeating the defending champions in the Super 4 stage of the 2022 Asian Cup. sunday. Although leadoff batter Babar presented a rare miss at bat, Pakistan secured a thrilling victory over traditional rivals India at the Dubai International Stadium. Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Nawaz guided the Pakistani side to a five-wicket win over the side managed by Rohit Sharma in their second encounter against India in the Asian Cup.

Overall a good contest!” Tendulkar tweeted. Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar credited the Green Army think tank for promoting Nawaz. “Big win for Pakistan. What a chase. Sending Nawaz was key,” Akhtar said. Former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi also praised Babar & Co. for ending India’s Asian Cup win.

Riding Virat Kohl’s sublime 60 from 44 balls, the Indian team led by Rohit managed to post 181-7 in the 20 plus contest. Pakistani Nawaz netted four overs and nabbed Suryakumar Yadav’s crucial wicket in the recently concluded contest. Pakistani fly-half Rizwan laid the foundation for a successful chase by smashing in 71 out of 51 balls. Playing a small appearance in Pakistan’s win, Nawaz scored 42 out of 20 as Green Army finished the run pursuit in 19.5 overs. Nawaz was also named Player of the Match for his all-around heroism against India.
