After two Short Nite film festivals held in February and summer, Fortnite is hosting its third in-game film festival, with a seasonal twist.
Combining two of its popular events, the annual Fortnitemares Halloween event this year will feature sinister animated shorts, nicknamed “Shortnitemares”.
Shortnitemares offers individual bespoke theaters where each short film can be watched on demand, in addition to a main hall which will show all of the programming on a loop.

The event will also tie into the Cube Invasion and Stranger Things ‘Sideways’ dimension storyline of the current season, as it will launch new Universal Classic Monster skins and weapons, additional quests, as well as a limited time game mode.
While Epic has yet to announce the films and creators featured in Shortnitemares or even a specific date for the event, we do know that there will be a lot to offer at this Fortnitemares, including maps, modes and Halloween themed quests.
What can we expect from Universal Classic Monster skins?
Epic Games will be adding several skins based on the Universal Classic Monster range. The first is Frankenstein’s monster skin in its classic green skinned, bolt-on neck style that includes various cosmetics such as a grave digging shovel for a pickaxe, a brain in a jar for its back, and packaging. weapon that turns your weapons into quilted corpses.
Next is the classic Mummy based on the 1932 film, which will be released later this month. An NPC version will also be seen roaming the island.
Other skins that may be added to the Item Shop as part of the lineup include Wolfman, Dracula, the Invisible Man, and the Black Lagoon Creature.
Fortnite is also introducing several new skins that are not part of the Universal Classic Monster range. This includes the return of skins like the Pumpkin Outfits as well as two new skins called âBoxy andâ Boxer âand based on designs created by the community.
Geometriks, made up of purple cubes and Iones, a gothic werewolf woman, is also coming to Fortnite.
What other Fortnitemares events are taking place?
While there are no details yet, it is known that new quests will be added that will allow you to earn spooky cosmetics. Epic is also adding the Dual Fiend Hunters crossbow, a new weapon that deals additional damage to demons in side areas.
When does Fortnitemares start?
We don’t know the exact date of Shortnitemares, however, Fortnitemares is officially activated. The event was announced and launched simultaneously on October 5 at 10 a.m. ET, with Fortnite offering players at least one Halloween-themed event or game add-on each day.
