WMU football at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16 against Kent State University culminates with homecoming activities all week on campus.

KALAMAZOO, Michigan – Cheer on Bronco football as Western Michigan University reunion week begins Sunday October 10 until the match on Saturday October 16. Organizations and academic units gather on campus to welcome alumni, recognize award winners, and hold special pre-game hatches to prepare for the annual return match, which will pit WMU against the Golden Flashes of the Kent State University at 3:30 p.m. on October 16. The WMU Bookstore also offers discounts to alumni during Reunion Weekend.

Details on most student and alumni return activities as well as various other events are posted on the campus events calendar. These events include:

  • The Alumni Celebration Part 1 will recognize Charles Zhang, MA 91, founder and CEO of Zhang Financial in Portage, Michigan. The virtual award ceremony will be available on 7:00 p.m. More details and link to video when available.

Wednesday October 13

  • Dining Services welcomes a tailgate of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Valley Dining Center and Henry Grab’n Go will serve a variety of favorites.

  • Alumni Celebration Part 2 will recognize Daniel witt, BBA ’83, President and Director of the International Tax and Investment Center in Washington, DC The virtual award presentation will be available at 7:00 p.m. More details and link to video when available.

Thursday October 14

  • Alumni Celebration Part 3 will recognize Diane sieger, BA ’73, president of the Grand Rapids Community Foundation. The virtual award ceremony will be available for viewing at 7 p.m. More details and link to video when available.

  • A Homecoming Carnival takes place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the place Sangran. There will be carnival food, games and entertainment. This is a free, student-focused event open to the public.

  • Discussion “A Message to Black College Students” with the author, alumnus Jer juan howard, BA ’20, is planned for 6:00 p.m. in the Meader room of the Waldo library. This event is sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Friday October 15th

  • El Grito, an event for Hispanic Heritage Month, will include food, dance performances, music and a fashion show and will begin to 6:00 p.m. at Miller Plaza. The free and open event is sponsored by the Latin Student Alliance, the Western Student Association and the Campus Activities Board.

  • The Haworth College of Business awards ceremony takes place at 4:00 p.m. at 2150, room Schneider. Alumni and friends of the college will be honored for their outstanding professional and service accomplishments, for representing the values ​​of Haworth College of Business, and for being an inspiration and example to students.   • The Golden Apple and Keystone awards ceremony is at 5:00 p.m. at the Fetzer Center. Find more information about the recipients and sign up.

Saturday October 16

  • Alumni Homecoming Tailgate is open from noon to 3 p.m. at Heritage Hall Parking Lot 1. Join your fellow Broncos for the afternoon with shows, games and great food before heading to the return game. The tailgate is hosted by the Association of former students of the UMM. Ticket sales are closed; pedestrians cannot be accepted.

  • WMU Broncos v Kent State University at 3:30 p.m. at Waldo Stadium. Match tickets can be purchased from the Bronco ticket office or by calling (888) 496-8849.
