Highland Rim played two games last week. In Game 1, the Hornets faced the Fayetteville Middle Tigers (FMS) and Flintville Bobcats in Game 2.

The Lady Hornets defeated the FMS Tigers 45-26. Grasen Tipps led the Hornets with 18 points, followed by Mattie Graham with 11 and Abby Curtis with 8.

“We played with a lot of strength and heart tonight. I’m very proud of the way we ended the game, ”said coach Madison Bagget. “Everyone stepped up when we needed them and did great things. We’re going to use that momentum to get into the games this week. “

On the boys’ side, Highland Rim won in a shootout, 66-42, against the Tigers.

Maddox Franklin had 20 points for Highland Rim. Rhett Persell added 12 points and Colton Tate had 10 boards.

In game two of the week, the Lady Hornets faced the Flintville Bobcats. The Hornets knocked out the Bobcats, 45-24. Sophia Nichols, Mattie Graham and Grasen Tipps each had 10 points to lead the score for Highland Rim.

The Highland Rim boys faced off against the only team to beat them this year, the Flintville Bobcats. The Hornets took their revenge and defeated the Bobcats, 59-30. Rhett Persell led the Hornets with 26 points. Maddox Franklin was just behind with 25 points.

Fayetteville Middle Tigers

The Fayetteville Middle Tigers faced the Highland Rim Hornets last week.

The Lady Tigers fell to the Hornets, second, 45-26. The Tigers fell to 6-6 with the loss, but remained in fourth place in the region.

The boys’ game ended in an end with the Hornets in the lead, 66-42, against Fayetteville. The FMS boys are down to 6-6 this season.

The Blanche Bulldogs came out of the regional game when they played two games with the Minor Wildcats.

In the first of two women’s games against Minor, Blanche lost 27-8 to the Wildcats. Evelyn Pozos led the Bulldogs with five points.

In Game 2, the Wildcats won 27-6. Blanche was led by Evelyn Pozos with four points.

The Blanche Bulldogs boys beat Minor in both games. The score of the first game was 51-28, Blanche. Elijah Parks had 17 points for the Bulldogs. David Michael Moose added 12 for Blanche.

In Game 2, Blanche rolled again and defeated the Wildcats, 43-13. Parks was the top scorer again with 21 points for Blanche. James York also scored nine points for the Bulldogs.

The Eagles were inactive last week.

The girls and boys teams know what could be considered a great season. South Lincoln has four more games to go this season. They face the Unity Lions, Flintville Bobcats, Huntland Hornets and Highland Rim Hornets to close out the regular season.

Flintville played a game last week against the always tough Highland Rim Hornets.

In the Lady Bobcats game, the team lost the game to the Hornets, 45-26.

“We got better with every game and we will continue to improve,” said coach Tyler Jean after his daughters’ loss to Highland Rim.

The Flintville boys attempted to defeat Highland Rim for the second time this year. The Bobcats couldn’t eliminate the first place Hornets and lost 59-30. Flintville fell to 8-3 with the loss, but remained second in the standings.

Unity played one game this week against the Huntland Hornets.

The Lady Lions looked to take out the Hornets and finished with a 30-28 victory.

Unity trailed 16-3 at halftime but rallied late for the win. Alivia Phelps led the Lions with 12 points and Reese Cunningham had 11 points.

“I couldn’t be happier for these girls right now. They fought back in the second half. Maybe we can kick this thing up and have a run at the end of the season, ”coach Dakota Brown said after Huntland’s victory.

Unity’s men’s team also beat Huntland in overtime with a score of 34-32.

Eli Groce had a big game for the Lions with 24 points. The unit improved to 7-3 in the region and tied for third place with the South Lincoln Eagles.
