Carolina Athletics Named SVG College Sports Media Awards Finalist


Go Heels Productions and the Creative Services department have been named finalists for three videos for the 2022 SVG College Sports Media Awards.

Presented annually, the SVG College Sports Media Awards in collaboration with NACDA recognized best-in-class college sports video production. Over the past decade, SVG has celebrated those who have pushed boundaries and set a higher standard for all who are part of this talented industry.

Carolina was named a finalist for Outstanding Live Game Production, Outstanding On-Premises Video, and Outstanding Social Media Video.

University of North Carolina (Go Heels Productions) | NCAA Field Hockey Championship: Michigan vs. North Carolina

This was the COVID-delayed NCAA Field Hockey National Championship for the 2020-21 season, played May 9, 2021. UNC was the host institution for the event and Carolina was the first school to produce a National Championship broadcast for ESPN out of it’s on-campus production control room inside the Woody Durham Media and Communication Center.

This event was comprised entirely of Go Heels Production staff, students and freelancers from the team. The only ESPN staff involved in the broadcast were the game’s announcers, who were calling the game remotely from their homes. The game was produced by Paul Beam and directed by Evan Badler.

It was the third game in 3 days, broadcasting both domestic semi-finals two days before.


University of North Carolina | UNC Basketball Trailers

This series was developed as an In-Venue series to excite Carolina fans for every contest. Played before the team took the stage at the Dean E. Smith Center, these videos involved several people collaborating.

The script was written by Columnist adam lucas, has been voiced by various Tar Heel basketball big names. Go heels production staff as well as members of the creative services department, including Josh Reavis – Editor/videographer, Ryan Schmidt – Editor/videographer, Ken Cleary – Producer, adam lucas – Scriptwriter, Gary Paczesny – The videographer/producer contributed to these videos.


University of North Carolina | Final Four Trailer

Shot and edited for the Tar Heel race at the 2022 National Championship Game, this video was shared on social media. It garnered almost half a million views on social platforms with nearly 100,000 engagements. This video was edited in Chapel Hill with content shot in New Orleans and sent back.

The script was written by Columnist adam lucas, was voiced by the Iron-5 (5 starting players)! Members of the Creative Services and Go Heels Productions team create this content, including Josh Reavis –Videographer, Ryan Schmidt – Editor/Videographer, Ken Cleary – Producer, adam lucas – Scriptwriter, Gary Paczesny – Videographer/Director.


The winners will be selected by a jury and announced during the 14th Annual SVG College Sports Media Awards in collaboration with NACDA who returns to an in-person ceremony at the SVG College Summit at the Omni Atlanta Hotel, Atlanta, Ga. on June 13 at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Go Heels Productions will produce over 150 events for both the ESPN/ACC Network as well as on-site productions from the three Woody Durham Media and Communications Center control rooms. The Creative Services unit will produce more than 1,500 pieces of content this school year that promote and tell the stories of Carolina Athletics; its student-athletes, coaches, staff and administration.

The Tar Heels are joined by seven ACC schools that are also nominated for awards in various categories and divisions, including Clemson, Duke, Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame, Syracuse and Virginia Tech.
