Amazon’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ Might Feature the Series’ Most Underrated Character

Part of the call from Amazon the Lord of the Rings The television series is its ability to explore characters, time periods and places in the fictional world of JRR Tolkien that previous adaptations of the author’s work have not.

While a number of familiar characters are expected to appear in the prequel series, the show’s cast will also consist of characters that fans have heard of but never seen in live-action form before. This includes legendary Tolkien characters like Fëanor and Morgoth, who may or may not appear in the series, but will cast long shadows over most events anyway.

from Amazon the Lord of the Rings could also introduce many non-book readers to an incredibly compelling, yet still underappreciated, Elven character.

The theory – Although little is officially known about Amazon’s plot the Lord of the Rings TV series, we know it is mostly set during the Second Age of Middle Earth. Early rumors and leaks also suggest that the series will focus heavily on the corruption and downfall of Númenor and position Isildur as one of its central protagonists.

Considering all of this, it seems very likely that the Amazon series could shed some light Círdan the shipbuilder, the Master of the Gray Havens and one of the most quietly important figures in Middle-earth history.

Master of the Gray Havens — Círdan is an elf renowned for his wisdom, steadfastness, and skill in building ships. In the Second Age of Middle-earth, he is the Master of the Gray Havens, the seaport from which those who wish to travel to Valinor depart. He builds ships in the Gray Havens and offers them to those who wish to sail West, staying behind while many other Elves (and other beings) are allowed to sail to the Undying Lands.

By the time of the Second Age, Círdan is also the oldest elf in Middle-earth – hundreds of years older than even Galadriel. And like Galadriel, he advises against the creation of the Rings of Power when Annatar (Sauron in disguise) first offers to help the Elves make them. His advice is ignored, but when Celebrimbor forges the Three Rings of Power intended for the Elves, one of them is given to Círdan.

Throughout the Second Age, Círdan also maintains a strong and healthy relationship with the Númenóreans, welcoming all who come to visit the Gray Havens. Following the creation of the One Ring, Sauron is said to wage campaigns against all Elves except those of Lindon and the Gray Havens because he is afraid that attacking these Elvish territories will bring about the full power of an uncorrupted Númenor coming to the aid of its allies.

Of course, the power of Númenor is ultimately defeated by none other than Sauron himself, and only certain factions of Númenóreans survive the destruction of the island.

Years later, at the end of the Second Age, Círdan joins the War of the Last Alliance and is present on the battlefield when Sauron’s physical form is destroyed. He also – and this is worth noting – witnessed Isildur, a surviving Númenórean, take the One Ring for himself. It is said that the two Elronds and Círdan advises Isildur to destroy the Ring after Sauron’s defeat.

the Reverse To analyse – Amazon is as secretive as possible about its the Lord of the Rings series and has so far confirmed very few official plot or character details for the project. This makes predicting the show’s character cast harder to do than it probably should be at this point.

However, in a show that should focus heavily on things like the Forging of the Rings of Power and the Fall of Númenor, it seems only natural for a character like Círdan to have a starring role. His ties to both events are surprisingly deep and important, and his perspective could greatly benefit this news. the Lord of the Rings series.

from Amazon the Lord of the Rings series premieres on September 2, 2022.
