140th Maryland State Fair: Events, Hours & What’s New | Arts and entertainment


Timonium – Prepare for the fair. “The 12 Best Days of Summer” begins Thursday, August 26 and ends with Labor Day on Monday, September 6 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium.

The general hours of the fair are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends and from noon to 10 p.m. on weekdays. Festival goers can arrive early for the cattle and horse shows and stay late when Midway’s rides, games and food stalls are still open. The buildings, barns, and home and farm and garden arts exhibit halls at the Maryland State Fair will be open noon to 9 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends, and 10 a.m. a.m. to 8 p.m. on Labor Day Monday.

Live Thoroughbred Horse Racing kicks off Friday, August 27, with a special night of Twilight racing starting at 3 p.m. Post time is 12:40 p.m. for the remainder of the competition, Saturday and Sunday August 28 and 29, and Friday September 3 through Monday September 6 of Labor Day.

Fair-goers can watch and bet on the races in the grandstands as a thoroughbred around the 5/8 mile track, or relax in the air-conditioned OTB center indoors and watch on multiple TVs and savor a meal at Nick’s Grandstand Grill.

Admission prices to the Maryland State Fair are for adults 12 and older, $ 10; persons aged 62 and over, $ 8; children 6 and over, $ 5; and children 5 and under, free. The trips are priced individually.

Celebrating its 140th anniversary, the Maryland State Fair recognizes the continuing attraction of citizens, students and members of the 4-H and FFA of Maryland to share their talents and compete for ribbons, awards and bragging rights. The buildings, barns and stages of the fair provide space for thousands of visitors to enjoy the exhibits, learn from the exhibitors and consider participating in a future fair.

The 140th Maryland State Fair will also feature the thrills and thrills, sights, sounds and aromas of many Midway and Kidde Land rides, games and funfair meals provided by Deggeller Attractions. For those with a more local palate, the Maryland Foods Pavilion, Dairy Bar, and Chesapeake Craft Brew & Wine Garden will feature farm-fresh produce and Chesapeake Bay food and drink.
